The e-passport service program is being launched for Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia in the last week of this month or the first week of March. By now, all preparations have been completed. The high commissioner of Bangladesh appointed to Malaysia Md. Shamim Ahsan confirmed this information in an exchange meeting while speaking with expatriate journalists at 5 pm local time on Friday (February 16).

In the exchange meeting held in the meeting room of the High Commission, he also said that the High Commission has already completed all the preparations for the long-awaited e-passport service for expatriates. An outsourced company named ESL is working on this. The e-passport service will be launched in Malaysia in the last week of this month or the first week of the next month.

Speaking about the progress of the work of the High Commission, he said that from January 1 of last year to January 31 of this year, a total of 260 thousand 42 passports have been issued by the Bangladesh High Commission among expatriates. Among them, 1 lakh 66 thousand 807 passports and 93 thousand 215 passports were distributed through Malaysian Postal Department. Based on the complaints of the workers who came to Malaysia on calling visa and did not find work, many of them were arranged to work by changing the company through the Malaysian company Zetic. This process is still ongoing.
